The uncertainty, it’s crippling. Changes as this–the type that seeps into your brain and command your body to freeze solid, your pores to sweat gallons, and your heart to pump way over 100 beats per minute–they engulf you into thinking there is no way out.
But there is one thing.
There is always one thing to any gut-wrenching, crippling thing. If you will take one step, take it in the way of acceptance. Yes, this thing, whatever this is for you or for me, it is happening. It is mentally incapacitating. It is hard to manage. It feels like the world is against you; everyone is in a covertly managed plot to keep you in an immobile, robotic state. Accept it.
Embrace, revive, and keep it alive. Do this because this uncertainty and anxiety revolving around you, it keeps you alive. Let it. To a point, let it. Hold it close and remember the feeling. Smile with it. Call it the abyss. Your abyss.
But there is one more thing.
Conquer it like a monster while noting Friedrich Nietzsche’s reminder: “He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.”
It’s too easy to become a monster these days. So, for the sake of serenity, will you do one more thing?
